Speak for Your Servant is Listening

I wonder how many times in my life I have said I need a word from the Lord or I do not seem to being hearing the Lord? Usually when I make those type of statements, I have let the cares of life come between me and time in prayer and the Word.

I read I Samuel chapter 3 and thought about the Lord calling Samuel and Samuel running to Eli because he did not recognize God's voice. The 3rd time Eli realized it was God calling Samuel and told Samuel, "Go and lie down, and if He calls you, say,'Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening."

I am willing to bet I have whined I needed a word from the Lord many more times thanI've said Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening

We miss so much when we are too busy talking and not listening. We miss the Lord when we let the cares of life steal our time in time in the Word and prayer.

I want to be a servant who says, "Speak, Lord, I am listening."

"We miss the Lord when we let the cares of life steal our time in time in the Word and prayer." Great thought, Annette. I hadn't thought of it quite like this before. I don't want to miss Him!

What a great reminder to hush my mouth and open my heart to His still small voice.
Thank you!
