Alzheimer's is Ghastly

I spent much of April trying (at times successfully others unsuccessfully) to meet the increased needs of a loved one diagnosed with Alzheimer's 16 years ago. I met some days head-on, others only because of a sense of duty. There is no reasoning with the person, time/days of the week has no meaning for someone that far along in the disease, hard to plan ahead because each day presents its own challenges. There is no constant...

But wait,  there is a constant, our Savior. We find His promises in Scripture. He tells us (Matthew 28:20) He is with us always, even to the end of the age:

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Hebrews 13:8 clearly states Jesus does not change: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

The world changes by the second, our life circumstances may seem to change like shifting sand or on the other hand like nothing will ever get better.

We need to make sure our foundation is anchored in Christ and not the things of the world. As hard as it is some days to see light at the end of the tunnel, the light is there. Hang on tight because no one or nothing can snatch you from our Heavenly Father's hand.

If you have doubts, write out John 10:28-30, carry it around with you on an index card, say it out loud like you mean it, memorize it:

And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.  My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.  I and My Father are one.”

You may feel like no one understands your situation, the fatigue, the grief, but our Lord does. Don't be afraid to talk to someone whether your pastor or a counselor, there may be a support group available to you, and when you least fee like it, find the time and press into the Word and prayer. Ask your friends to pray with you and for you.

Jesus loves you and He is with you every step of the way.
