The Least of These

This time of year, we seem to be bombarded by Valentine ads to buy our loved one chocolate, flowers and or jewelry. I am not opposed to receiving these items as gifts. I am not opposed to romantic love, but we need to remember God's love for all people, we need to remember to walk in love, we need to remember the least of these.

I took a spiritual inventory today. It seems being caught up in a long term crisis situation in my life has caused me to pay less attention the least of these. I have not donated to a couple of ministries I love to support in months, I have not donated new/gently owned clothing to a local help center, nor have I dropped off food at the same help center.

As the world focuses on romantic love Monday, I want to focus on the least of these and remember them through out the year.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Me, too, Annette. I am so moved by yesterday's Scriptures and what kind of impact we're suppose to be making on our world, but more importantly on specific ones in this world. Love your valentine from God! Love you.

What a wonderful reminder, Annette -- remembering the least of these year-round...
