Reduced Caffeine = Reduced Sense of Humour!

Nearly 2 weeks ago I decided to drastically cut my caffeine intake from 4-6 cups of coffee a day, 1 or 2 Diet Cokes a day, and the miscellaneous piece of chocolate during the week as well as the occasional glass of tea down to 2 cups of coffee a day.

In case you are wondering...I have not cheated...been sorely tempted, am tempted right this minute because I woke up at 3:30am, gave up at 4:00am and got out of bed.

I am considering a Red Bull...just kidding...I have noticed my patience is a little short this week. I have not said anything unkind, but I sure have thought it and I mostly repented of the vain thoughts and imaginations.

Thankfully I know the Prince of Peace, He is my Lord and Savior! He can fill me with His Patience, He is there with me as I grow used to living on real energy derived from fruits, vegetables, few carbs, exercise and rest.

His Word says:

(I can't talk about bread right now since I am not eating it, but He is the Bread of Life.)

A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.

The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.

I laughed aloud at "considering a red bull"! I drink one cup of coffee a day leaving plenty of room for the "occasional chocolate" which is of great importance to be sure there is room for that! LOL! That last portion of scripture is my prayer for each of my boys and my hubby and me daily! Good stuff!

My chocolate intake ends up being more than occasional :) Good luck and hang in there! :)

Keep up the good work. I was doing really good drinking water with Crystal Light at work and home, but then we ran out and now I have real, good ole Southern style, sweeten tea in my glass and loving it. I'm even thinking a little piece of chocolate might just hit the spot too.

Must get back on track. Stay with it!

I hear you, girl. I love me some coffee and coke and tea and chocolate. I must cut back too, and mine isn't so voluntary. The dr. said my heart rate was going too fast, so I just am praying he won't make me quit it altogether. Okay, I needed those verses to remind me Who my Source is. Thanks for the timely post.

Tough stuff - giving up caffeine. I did that quite a while ago. But went back to it. Stopped again. Back to it again. Now I don't feel any guilt. If I want a coffee I drink one. Chocolate? Oh yeah! Just not too much.

Good luck. Apparently it gets easier with time. And I totally understand the "reduced sense of humour!" Hang in there. Your blogging sisters are behind you 100%

Everyday while I am in line at Sonic for my large diet Dr. Pepper I vow that it is my last. Everyday I go through this. I think I either need to have my wisdom teeth taken out again (I quit caffeine for like a year after I had my wisdom teeth out) or stinkin' get pregnant for me to actually quit this stuff.

Maybe it's not that we should "give up" caffeine just commit to more water. Yeah...I'll give that approach a try. :)

Good luck! You can do it!
