Waiting on Ike

Today we will monitor the hurricane center's website for Ike every few hours. We may have a better idea of where he will make landfall. I ask you to still pray he will disipate and keep moving quickly to prevent flooding, pray no tornadoes are formed and pray trees do no fall. Trees falling on houses and cars killed a lot of people in 1983 when a hurricane hit our area.

I have most of the things I need on the emergency preparedness list for the days we may not have electricity. We have a gas stove so we can cook without power. I don't think our water supply has ever been contaminated, but I will buy water today. I want to be like a wise virgin and be prepared. My husband bought a generator for my parents, ours is in the garage. I even have a coffee press to make coffee if we lose power, an Annette without coffee is not a pleasant thing!

Let me leave you with these words this morning:

Jesus said, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me."

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.

But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.

I can't imagine.

Lord,
Please guard all those in the path of this storm. May Ike not take any lives. Keep their homes and their loved ones safe. Guard their hearts and their minds as they cling to you remembering that You are their rock and their fortress...We ask for Your protection. In Jesus name. Amen.

you all have been on my heart today. It seems that you've been under the gun one too many times this season. Anyway, I will be praying.

love,
karen

I'm with you--an Annette without coffee is not a good thing. Praying for your safety and shelter in the storm, and as you requested, no tornadoes, the storm to dissipate. We are having a tree cut down today by our driveway before the storm. Who knows? I didn't like the tree anyway or who lived in it--Kamikaze squirrels bomb you with half eaten pine cones and sabbotage the walkways with sharp conifer trash! So one tree less to worry about today. Stay safe and dry. Love, Annette

Oh, I'm with you about the coffee. That's essential! Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and hope Ike vanishes without any damage! Keep safe.
Hugs.
